A few weeks ago I had a guy who had a 1996 Toyota Runner call me wanting a price on a reman transmission.I asked him what it was doing and he commenced to tell me its slipping and needs a new transmission. I asked him to come in for a TranScan because the symptons he was describing could be caused by several things. He reluctantly agreed and came over a few hours later. After a road test and visual inspection it was found the throttle valve cable was snapped and its was not working in unison with the throttle thus causing a phanton slip . After I brought the gentleman out in the shop to see it he was in awe . He told me he had already been to a dealer and they said the transmission had to be replaced. He gladly let me repair it and drove off the next day. The point is what seems to be a major ordeal to the untrained eye can be something simple. Jamie Swim Manger at Greer location
